Language Camp to Learn English in Canada (Kelowna)
Kelowna is the ideal place for a language stay for young people in Canada because there are few foreigners. The language immersion experience will therefore be all the more authentic. In addition, the language school offers a unique opportunity. That of combining a language stay for foreign children and teenagers with a summer camp with local young Canadians. These are programs for youth aged 8 to 18*. They start in mid-June and end at the end of August for individual registrations. And for organized groups of 8 or more people, they are available from April to October. The duration is from one to five weeks. *We also work with language camps in Vancouver and Toronto that accept children from 7 years old.
Organization of language courses for children and adolescents in Canada (Kelowna):
The full English Immersion in Canada program is all inclusive. It therefore includes English courses, accommodation and activities. English lessons for children and teenagers take place in the morning, from 9am to 12pm. There are courses for all levels, from beginners to advanced. And the activities take place in the afternoon, from 12:45pm to 3pm. Accommodation is with a Canadian host family, in a single room, and includes all meals. The homestay also provides transportation from Kelowna YLW International Airport (round trip). All admissions and transportation to activities are included, as is guardianship. Teenagers 16 years and older can take English lessons with adults if they prefer. Indeed, the language school in Kelowna also offers lessons for adults (throughout the year).
English Language Study Options for Youth in Canada (Kelowna)
The English school offers the opportunity to combine the English language stay for young people in Canada with a themed camp. These are designed for local children and teenagers. Young foreigners will therefore participate alongside Canadians. Programs normally last 2 weeks. The first week children and teenagers participate in the language camp for foreigners. And the second week they participate in the summer camp with locals to maximize the inter-cultural experience. During this second week they do not take English classes, since they are completely mixed with Canadians. However, it is possible to participate in the English language camp for more than a week. And then join a themed summer camp with local children. The school advises to register in advance because the programs fill up quickly before the summer. In order to guarantee a place it is better to register before the end of April.
Language camp to learn English and play football or hockey:
The camp with football takes place during July and August, and accepts children from 8 to 14 years old. In the morning they practice their football skills. And in the afternoon there is conditioning, games, activities and swimming. There are no football level prerequisites, but young people must bring their equipment (shoes, etc.). The summer camp with hockey accepts young people from 8 to 17 years old. It is available from mid-June until the end of August. You have to know how to skate backwards. And you have to bring your own equipment, because it is not possible to rent it on site.
Language course for children + animal summer camp:
The animal camp is for children from 8 to 11 years old. They participate in activities related to animals and learn how to care for them responsibly. And they also learn to develop a respectful and positive relationship between humans, animals and nature.
Language study for young people in Canada combined with outdoor activities:
The objective of this summer language camp is to maximize English learning, promote team spirit and cultural exchanges. The schedule of activities may change every day depending on the weather conditions and the interests of the participants. Among the activities there are swimming, hiking, archery, obstacle courses, team sports. And it also has treasure hunts, campfires, songs and handicrafts.
Language stay in Canada + experience in a Canadian high school:
The same language academy also offers a unique program, for young people from 12 to 18 years old. It offers the opportunity to combine English language learning (from 9am to 11:30am) with an experience in a Kelowna high school (from 12:35pm to 3:30pm). They participate in drama, music, dance, cooking and art classes. This program is available from September to May, and can last from 1 to 8 weeks.
Winter Language Camp to Learn English in Canada
It is a program offered by an English language school located in Toronto. However, the language school we work with in Vancouver offers similar programs, also in winter. This is a winter language camp for young foreigners aged 11 to 17. There must be enough registration for the camp to be offered. We therefore invite you to contact us to be sure that the program is available. In general, it takes place from mid-January to mid-February, right in the centre of Toronto. Three different options are available. It is possible to participate in the full program, which includes accommodation with a Canadian host family and all meals. It is also possible to register for the language day camp, designed for young people travelling with their families. This option runs from 8:45am to 6pm Monday to Friday. And finally, young people can also only take English lessons, in the morning from 8:45am to 1:30pm.
English courses for teenagers in Canada, throughout the year
One of the largest and most famous language schools in the country offers these English courses for young teenagers. The linguistic academy, founded in 1991 in Vancouver, has also expanded to Toronto and Montreal. And it now has an international reputation. In Vancouver, English lessons for teenagers are available throughout the year. And in Toronto, the school offers them from the end of May until the beginning of September. These are courses specially designed for teenagers from 12 to 17 years old. However, 16- and 17-year-olds have the option to enroll in adult courses that offer a much more comprehensive range of lessons. The aim is for young people to gain enough confidence in an academic context as well as in a social context. Therefore, they learn English in a dynamic atmosphere that allows them to connect and communicate with students of the same age. The teachers are all qualified and have experience in teaching young people. On the other hand, these English courses for teenagers in Canada offer an ideal transition for those who wish to enter a Canadian high school (High School).
Lessons include academic reading, grammar, vocabulary, and writing. Teens also practice conversation and understanding through discussion topics that are important to today’s youth and that emphasize cultural diversity. Teaching is therefore done in a dynamic and interesting way. Every week there are exams and assessments to track students’ progress. In addition, there is a formal written assessment at the end of the adolescent’s language stay in Canada.
